What is counselling?

Counselling is the opportunity to talk in a safe environment about problems and concerns that you feel are having a negative effect on your life, and to find relief, clarity and direction with the support from the counsellor.

A counsellor will not judge you or tell you what to do but will focus on helping you to become aware of patterns of thinking and behaviour (both helpful and unhelpful ones), getting new perspectives, identifying your own strengths and resources, learning new skills and supporting you in using new insights and skills to resolve your problems.

The counselling process is confidential, and nothing you tell your counsellor will be disclosed without your written consent.

How to book an appointment

To book an appointment, please ring us at 07-3245 2117 and tell Reception that you want to book an appointment for counselling. Reception will then take your name, phone number and the suburb you live in.

One of our counsellors (Christine or Astrid) will then call you back within 3 working days, to briefly discuss with you what it is you are seeking counselling for, and to book an appointment. Sometimes we refer people on to another organisation if we think that they will be better able to help you.

If you have not heard back from our counsellors within 3 working days, please call again and leave a message that you are still waiting for one of our counsellors to call you back.

We are usually able to book an appointment within 2 weeks of you calling. On some occasions we may have a waiting list or need to temporarily stop booking appointments with new clients.
